FAQ

How do you pronounce your name?

Kat (like “cat”) Felicis (fay-LEE-chiss) Ioco (YAH-koh)

Can I hire you to compose/play/sing/arrange…?

Head over to the Contact page to get the conversation started. Please provide as much information about the proposed project as possible so I can reply with a yes/no or deeper relevant questions.

Where can I buy your music?

Like all independent creators, the best way to support me is buying directly from my store even though other options are available.

Sheet music is available digitally on my store and can also be purchased in both physical and/or digital formats and digital only.

Catharsis is available in physical, digital, and streaming formats; click here for a list or go directly to the official store (the only place to get a physical copy).

At the moment, no original soundtracks or classical/concert recordings are available for purchase. Join my mailing list to be the first to know when they’re released!

What is your vocal range/voice type? What styles do you sing?

I am a classically trained soprano with a range of approximately 3.5 octaves. Most of what I sing is metal/rock, classical/opera, and soundtrack-related. I generally prefer a more classical approach but also use belting and various other styles (including hybrid approaches) that best suit the music. While I can do extreme vocals (see “Puppetmaster” on Catharsis), I use them very rarely.

What is symphonic metal?

The heavy-hitting drums and distorted guitars of metal meet the complex grandeur of classical and film music to create a rich sonic landscape.  Listen to the album preview for Catharsis to get the idea.

Do you have merchandise for sale?

Yes, at my store. If you have any suggestions or requests, please send them my way!

What instruments do you play? Do you play a brass instrument?

My primary instruments are voice, piano, and percussion, and I’ve dabbled in many others, including guitar and cello. I cannot play any brass instruments due to my jaw construction.

What music programs/software do you use?

I use Finale for notation and Cubase for just about everything else. The sound libraries I use most often are from EastWest/Quantum Leap and 8Dio, but I by no means limit myself to just those.

(I am not sponsored by any mentioned companies/brands/products.)

Where did your Spotify links go? Is your music still there?

Spotify changed their payout system starting in 2024 that any song streamed less than 1000 times that year has those royalties split among the highest-performing major label artists instead of going to the composer or artist who put in the work, time, money, and talent to create the song. This is, in a word, theft, and it disproportionately affects independent artists, lesser-known artists, composers, and anyone who creates music outside of the Top 40 mainstream…aka everything I do. I know some people might only have access to or discover my music via Spotify, so I have left my music on the platform; however, I have removed the links because I believe the solution to Spotify’s royalty theft is boycotting the platform, not trying to get more streams to cross the payout threshold, and I encourage others to do the same.
